About SC Innovators

SC Innovators is a machine building company in Chandigarh, set up in 2017 and in industrial automation since 2021. We design and build special purpose machines, automated assembly and testing systems and electrical control panels for manufacturers, and supply industrial components.

We take a project end to end — application study at the customer's plant, concept and mechanical design, control system design and programming, in-house manufacturing and assembly, factory acceptance testing, site commissioning and after-sales support. Working here means seeing a machine you worked on go from a blank sheet to running production at a customer's line.

Our team is small and hands-on, which means everyone gets real ownership early instead of a narrow slice of a large process.

Purpose of the Role

Most of our new business starts with a conversation. You will be the first voice a prospective customer hears from SC Innovators. You will find manufacturing companies that could use automation, reach the right people by phone, email and LinkedIn, explain clearly what we build — special purpose machines, automated assembly and testing lines and custom automation systems — and turn that interest into meetings for the Director. You own the start of the sales process: the quality of the leads, the accuracy of the records, and the follow-up that keeps a contact warm until they are ready to talk.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Prospect Research & Target Lists

  • Build and maintain lists of target companies — electrical and automotive OEMs, auto-ancillaries and other manufacturing plants — from industry directories, industrial association member lists, online portals (IndiaMART, TradeIndia), LinkedIn and exhibitor lists.
  • Find the right people at each plant: plant head, production, maintenance, engineering / projects and purchase.
  • Check the customer records before adding a company, so that no customer is contacted twice or by two people.

2. Outbound Calling & Outreach

  • Make outbound calls to prospects every working day: introduce the company, learn what the plant makes, and find where manual work, bottlenecks or quality problems exist.
  • Explain our automation and special purpose machine capabilities clearly and accurately, using our company profile, past projects and case studies.
  • Follow each call with an email or LinkedIn message and share the approved company profile.
  • Handle first-level objections — "we already have a vendor", "no budget this year" — politely, and keep the door open for later.

3. Lead Qualification & Meeting Setting

  • Qualify each lead: what the plant makes, the process they want to automate, volumes, timeline, who decides and any budget indication.
  • Set up meetings and plant visits for the Director, and send a short written brief before each one — the company, the contact, what was discussed and what they need.
  • Pass technical enquiries to the Director with the inputs collected (component drawings, photographs, cycle-time needs). Make no technical, price or delivery commitments on a call.

4. Customer Visits

  • Accompany the Director on customer visits from time to time (about 10–15% of the time): arrange the visit, take notes and record the action points.
  • Write the minutes of meeting in our standard format after every visit and follow up on each action point.

5. Follow-up & Nurturing

  • Keep a follow-up date and next action against every lead, so that no lead is left without one.
  • Re-contact older enquiries and past customers for repeat business, upgrades and new projects.
  • Follow up contacts from exhibitions and trade fairs within days of the event.

6. Records & Reporting

  • Record every call, email and meeting on the customer board and in the customer records the same day — contact details, discussion, next action and due date.
  • Send the Director a weekly report: calls made, contacts reached, meetings set, leads qualified, and why leads were lost.
  • Pass on market feedback: what customers ask for, competitors named, and the objections heard most often.

7. Marketing Support

  • Help keep the company profile, email templates and call scripts up to date, based on what works on calls.
  • Support email campaigns and LinkedIn outreach using approved company material.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate in any discipline.
  • 1 – 3 years of B2B (business-to-business) telesales, inside sales, telemarketing or business development experience.
  • Fluent spoken and written English — clear, confident and professional on the phone and in email. This will be tested at the interview through a mock sales call and a written follow-up email.
  • A track record of making high volumes of calls, reaching decision-makers and booking meetings, and the ability to explain how you did it in your last role. This will be tested at the interview.
  • Willingness to learn technical subject matter, so that after training you can explain in simple terms what a special purpose machine or an automated line does and why a plant would want one. This will be tested at the interview with a short learning exercise.
  • Disciplined record-keeping and working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and email.
  • Willing to travel occasionally with the Director for customer visits.

Good to Have

  • Experience selling to manufacturing companies, or selling industrial products or engineering services.
  • Familiarity with basic manufacturing and automation terms — PLC, sensor, pneumatics, conveyor, cycle time.
  • Experience with a CRM or lead tracker (Zoho, HubSpot, Trello or similar).
  • Experience generating leads through LinkedIn, IndiaMART or similar platforms.
  • A valid driving licence.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Resilience and persistence: treats "no" as "not yet", and follows up without being pushy.
  • Listens before pitching — asks questions to understand the customer's process first.
  • Honesty: never promises a price, delivery date or technical result, and passes those questions to the Director.
  • Organised: every lead has a next action and a date, and nothing lives only in memory.
  • Represents the company professionally on the phone, in email and at customer sites, and keeps customer information, pricing and company data confidential.
