About SC Innovators
SC Innovators is a machine building company in Chandigarh, set up in 2017 and in industrial automation since 2021. We design and build special purpose machines, automated assembly and testing systems and electrical control panels for manufacturers, and supply industrial components.
We take a project end to end — application study at the customer's plant, concept and mechanical design, control system design and programming, in-house manufacturing and assembly, factory acceptance testing, site commissioning and after-sales support.
Our team is small and hands-on. Interns here work on real machines and real projects, next to the engineers who build them — not on made-up exercises.
Purpose of the Internship
You will learn and practise the control side of our machines: PLC programs, HMI screens, sensors, pneumatics and testing — on machines being built in our works.
A short internship covers PLC and HMI basics and one guided programming task. A long internship covers a complete machine sequence and support during build and trials.
What You Will Work On
1. PLC Programming
- Write and test PLC logic on Siemens TIA Portal (and Fuji Electric where used): sequences, interlocks, timers, counters, alarms.
- Build programs in a structured way with clear tag names and comments.
2. HMI
- Create HMI screens — manual operation, I/O status, alarms, counters — on Siemens or Fuji / Hakko panels.
3. Sensors, Pneumatics & Testing
- Wire and test sensors and pneumatic circuits on the bench; understand PNP/NPN, solenoid valves and cylinders.
- I/O checking, dry runs and station tests on machines in build, with your mentor.
4. Documentation
- Prepare I/O lists, alarm lists and program backups with version numbers.
- Record every change so the program on the machine matches the master copy.
Who Can Apply
- Studying or recently completed one of the courses listed under Eligibility.
- Basic understanding of ladder logic, relays, contactors and 24 V DC control circuits.
- Comfortable using a multimeter and hand tools.
- Willing to work on the shop floor, not only at a laptop.
Good to Have
- Any hands-on PLC course or project (Siemens, Delta, Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley).
- HMI or SCADA exposure.
- Pneumatics lab experience.
- AutoCAD Electrical.
What We Look For
- Systematic — isolates a fault step by step instead of trying things at random.
- Documents and backs up without being told.
- Asks before changing anything on a live machine.
- Follow workshop safety at all times — PPE, machine guards, and never operating a machine without being authorised and supervised. Never work on a powered panel without your mentor.
What Success Looks Like
| First 2 weeks | Writes and tests a simple sequence on our trainer or a bench setup; knows our tag and backup conventions. |
|---|---|
| End of a short internship | A guided programming task on a real machine station, tested and documented with I/O list and backup. |
| End of a long internship | Has programmed and tested a complete simple machine sequence with HMI, supported trials, and handed over clean documentation. |
What You Get Instead of a Stipend
This is an unpaid internship. What it gives you instead:
- Hands-on experience in a working industrial automation company — machines, tools and real deadlines.
- A defined project with deliverables you can show, reviewed by your mentor every week.
- An internship certificate stating the areas you were trained in.
- A written reference for interns who perform well.
- First consideration for a paid role when one opens in your area.
- For outstanding interns, a completion award may be given at the Director's discretion. It is not promised and not part of the offer.
What this internship does not include: a stipend, a travel or food allowance, accommodation, or a guaranteed job. We would rather say that clearly now.
Selection
Selection is three steps: (1) application screening; (2) a short written test at our works — the common aptitude paper plus a short task related to this internship; (3) one interview with a practical question. Selected interns receive an internship offer letter and sign a confidentiality undertaking before starting.
How to Apply
- Email your CV to [email protected] with the subject line "Application — PLC & Automation Intern (Short / Long)".
- For any query, call or WhatsApp +91-9855104671.
- Please include: your college, course and year; whether you want the short (6–8 weeks) or long (6 months) internship, and the dates you are available; and a few lines on why this internship interests you.
- Mention any PLC/HMI software you have used and attach any project report.
- If your college needs a training letter or a no-objection certificate, mention it in your email.
